A solid ending to the series. It manages to do a decent job letting you know what happens with most of the characters by the very end. And the last page really does evoke a more hopeful future.

I honestly don't think I can recommend this series. I mean, there was definitely a point when it was one of my favorites. But then it just get worse around the middle part and I don't think the ending is very good.

That arc when Louis was a gang leader was the best arc and everything afterwards was meh. Most characters were dropped or pushed to the side. If you are a Haru fan I feel so sorry for you. And of the new character none of them held my interest.

Legoshi's ending was as okay as was gonna get. He just sort of gets with Haru and gets to have a life. They never improved the public opinion on inter species relationships, which was kind of a big deal in previous volumes but what can we do.

Louis situation pisses my off so much. I never shipped him with Juno but even that would have been better than the shitty marriage he ended up with in the company he didn't want. I'm so sad about Louis.

No other character matters so why would I mention them.

Idk how you accomplish this, but Beastars is the kind of series that tries to argue against discrimination, and against judging people for reasons they can control. But at the same time give very good reasons about why that discrimination is very important for a functional society.

Because no matter how badly they want to be friends, carnivores are always gonna be driven to devour herbivores. And herbivores are always gonna be weaker and in need of protection. And the author tries to put a bandaid over it by having meat products imported from the sea, which is super convenient! How weird that this wasn't mentioned before?!

You can read this series if you want to, just don't have big expectations.

.....I swear I'm not a furry, but this was a fun manga experience! Though it felt like the ending was rushed and there were some things that could have been expanded upon, I still enjoyed the series overall.

Beastars had a strong start, but the latter-half of the story became odd.

*Review of Volumes 19-22*
Ayyyyyyy
A little underwhelmed by the ending, but I think it did an alright job in ending things. I did enjoy the increase in humor. Especially all the gay jokes and covid jokes. So many pairings that I love were formally acknowledged. I don't like how a lot of questions are still unanswered about the whole carnivore herbivore relationship and the existence of mixed species. The ending just seemed way too neat.
Louis gives a public statement about the black market and suddenly all the adult carnivores are atoning for their sins by destroying the black market. It's not like they still don't crave meat. It's also not like herbivores don't know about the black market. Surely there's been herbivores who've bore witness to what they've done and yet they still continued to go there. Take Bill who is pretty defensive about his need for meat. Surely not all the carnivores acknowledge their shame and turn away from meat. Yahya mentions this, but nothing is done about it. Nothing is done for mixed species animals either. I suppose public perception is changing, but the execution is a bit poor on that part. Is there an actual solution? I don't think so, but I would've preferred that there be a moment of reflection on this and putting some sort of closure on the solution rather than ignoring it.
There's a lot of romance stuffed at the end, which I find decent.
I'm very upset that Louis and Juno aren't together.
I mean Haru and Legoshi got an ok ending. It felt like a lot of their other interactions being all awkward and somewhat affectionate.
It wasn't as romantic as I was hoping, but I guess I'm ok with them at least agreeing they're in a relationship. I would've liked to see if they had kids or maybe adopted.
