Did not like this as much as the first book. Too much juvenile drama.

I feel a little bad with this rating because I really enjoyed the first one but I was just not into this one at all. Not even sure if I will read the 3rd one.

Not as good as the first

This book was nowhere near the first of the trilogy, but it's still a great read. Slow start and it picks up quite well. I especially enjoyed how the side plots play out.

Honestly, 2.5 stars, but I had fun reading this craziness. I think my expectations were sufficiently lowered after the first book so I knew what to expect here.

(Spoilers) Of course Rachel is suddenly the daughter of a billionaire! Of course her new brother actually killed someone! Of course someone else’s assistant poisons her! I lost count of how many time’s this book jumped the shark to reach new heights of satire. It was a wild ride.

I do wish the author would give us the emotional payoffs like Rachel’s wedding ceremony or Astrid’s reunion with Charlie instead of these happening offscreen, but I guess those aren’t TMZ-worthy.

And I still wish the characters some actual personality, especially Rachel who is even more of a cardboard cutout of a nice human being in this book (until her fabulous monologue at the end). Kitty, Bernard, and Eddie all have completely different personalities from the first book, but who cares? The villains are super fun to hate anyway.

This one didn't hold my attention as well as the original, but there was still plenty of entertainment and absurdity (the good kind). I think it was a little longer than it really needed to be which is why I got kind of bored in the middle, and it has some soapier vibes than book 1, but I'm hooked enough into Astrid's storyline that I'll be picking up book 3.

Such a good read! Much better and faster paced than the first book. A great beach read lots of twist and turns but nothing to deep

In December 2016 I traveled to California to visit my friends for a little over a week. On the plane ride I brought along Crazy Rich Asians, the first in the series by Kevin Kwan. I laughed so much; the book was hilarious and eye-opening at the lives of the rich in Asia. It’s fictional of course, but there are elements of truth to it all. On the way back to Toronto, I found the second in the series at the airport in San Francisco and decided to buy it. I finished Crazy Rich Asians on the airplane ride back, and then read China Rich Girlfriend in the first week of January. It was addicting, like gossip about high royalty. It was difficult to put down so I finished it rather quickly – it’s captivating like a trashy reality TV program.

Drama but no substance. Good for long car rides
