DNF @ 43% pg 160ish the mid paragraph/sentence jumps in POV & tense & timeline were so hard to follow. Meyerson tells everyone’s feelings that no one but that obscure side side side character from 20+ years ago could know.

Also she hates her boyfriend right?

A current time line conversation between John & miranda about a conversation between John and Billy decades ago

That's true, John said, unclear what his old friend was asking him. (As if we’re back in the moment of the conversation happening from John’s pov)
"They were calculations of distances to parallel universes. Theories on multiple universes had already been floating around for a while," John explained to me. (Me being Miranda!?) "But I wasn't sure why Billy was showing them to me (me now being John in the present tense past). In fact, I remember being surprised at how unsophisticated his calculations were (making observations about the past conversation in retelling it to Miranda) . Any high school student with a decent physics teacher could have calculated them." John sipped his coffee, waiting for his old friend to explain his rather mundane observations. (As if we’re back in time in the moment of the conversation happening from John’s pov)

Good book. Kept me interested. The ending was completely predictable. The book was really well done until the last 10 pages or so.

I enjoyed how the story of figuring out what happened with the main characters family was slowly revealed as she went from literary clue to literary clue taking her back through the many people who had touched her family’s life. A soft and gently told story.

I loved the premise of this book, with a bookstore setting and a mystery element. In general, I found the writing to be well paced and enjoyable. Here’s what I didn’t like:

The major plot point was so, so predictable. I think I called it by 20% in? So, that was disappointing, but story of my life.

The romance aspects were absolutely over the top gag worthy. That was my biggest issue. The MCs jerk boyfriends behavior had me rolling my eyes so hard. The book would have been so much stronger without the boyfriend element, because that just really brought it down. So, if you’re looking for a bookstore mystery, this is NOT IT. This is more a family and relationship drama book that happens to have books in it.

Not a bad book, but not a great one.

This is really not a mystery, but more about the characters. I enjoyed listening to it.
