This kept me guessing until the very end! This novel had well thought-out and detailed characters, accompanied by a slow-brewing mystery. A solid piece of work by Lisa Jewell, and the narrator brought the story full circle. The pace was slow, but well-timed and includes lots of details that all mean something at some point in the story. Would definitely recommend this audio read if you’re on a road trip! It received an Audie Nomination for a reason, and you won’t be disappointed!

Oh. my. GOODNESS.
Well this reaction for one was because I have FINALLY finished this book. (I started it just before I graduated highschool this year and i’m ending it at the beginning of college season so that is crazy).
And for the other reason…the ending was INSANE. Especially the last chapter with a whole new plot twist.
Honestly for me I LOVED the storyline and the potential it had. I loved the characters and their complexity. I loved how at the end everything did seem connected especially with the epilogue. The last 100 pages actually and the beginning pages had me hooked. I really couldn’t put the book down.
However, and that is the reason why even with that insane ending i’m still giving the book a 3,5 star rating, I felt like the middle of the book was just…well stories. I didn’t really feel like the book was going to end or that the case was going to be solved. It just felt like an endless back and forth storytelling. I get it. This book was supposed to be a slow burning book but at one point, in my opinion, the book just got…toooooo slow which was also the reason why it took me so long to finish it.
Another thing was that I had the feeling that the story of Tallulah, her mom, her brother, her soon and all the other main and side characters ended way too abrupt. I would have loved to hear a lot more about them in the end or atleast the epilogue or a bonus chapter or anything in that way.
All in all, this book was a very interesting read. Would I read it again? Well yeah…but I would totally skip a lot of chapters in the middle. However, I want and will try to read the other books of Lisa Jewell since I’ve heard that they are also really good.

I was hooked, I really wanted to know what happened.
I felt so sad that Tallullah wasn’t speaking to her mom about how horrible Zach was, I really wished she did. And I was so glad that Tallullah was saved in the end. I know they’re fictional but I was really into it.

I’ll be reading more of Jewell’s books in the future.
