Jack and Annie are on their last adventure to help break Teddy from his curse. This time they visit Australia!
We don’t get much about Australia directly. Instead the book takes an indirect approach where the siblings start off by witnessing animals and learning about them from the book. However, that only lasts for about the first half of the book because when they find themselves in a bit of trouble, they become more observant and act accordingly.
In this book, it’s clear that Jack is strong and Annie is brave. Driven by their desire to help others, both siblings save animals during a critical event and push their own limits. I absolutely admired this side of them and the way they cared for each other.
The set of four adventures ends in this story and it’s revealed Teddy is indeed magical. Similar to all the other books, this set of adventures were mysterious, thrilling and engaging. However, all the adventures are unrelated to each other but are continuous in the story flow.
Overall, I enjoyed this short and quick read. I love reading about these two siblings as they care and understand each other. I will miss little Teddy in the future books but I am looking forward to reading what our next set of adventures are for!

I do not know much about Australia so this was very interesting to read. I did not remember that Koalas and Kangaroos were nocturnal either. I am happy they were able to get Teddy back to his normal self.
Can't wait for the next one.

Just a touch boring, this one. And more than a little unbelievable that they would see virtually all the famous Australian animals within a few minutes of arriving. I liked the bit about the aborigines Dreamtime and the Rainbow Serpent, though.

Jack and Annie travel to Australia to find the fourth in a series of gifts which they must receive in order to free a small dog from a spell. This is the conclusion of a four-book story arc, although it stands alone reasonably well.
This adventure is unusual in that Jack and Annie don't encounter any people at all on their trip to Australia. The focus is almost entirely on Australia's unique wildlife, although Aboriginal mythology does factor into the story as well. Mostly it is Annie playing the Doctor Doolittle role interacting with different animals as the danger of a wildfire looms.
There is an epilogue sequence in the last two chapters that features a bit more human interaction, and it does serve to introduce some important elements for books later in the series.
A lot of the challenges in this book seemed like they were overcome easily by the kids and with significant magical help, which made it less interesting than other entries in the series.
