This series is amazing and so unique! This installment still came with the amazing Firefly vibes but added significant twists and turns. Forever recommending this series!

LOVED LOVED LOVED IT, my expectations for writers and books went way up because of Marissa Meyer and her AMAZING, beautifully written series, can not wait till 2015 for Winter.

It's not quite as obvious by the title, but this third installment of The Lunar Chronicles is still about a well-known fairy tale character. In this case, Rapunzel. I guess the cover art does elude to that, but the title alone doesn't as much.

I listened to the audiobook and honestly, i was looking forward to seeing how things ended up for the characters I had met and the thing that had been going on in their multi-fairy-tale-sci-fi world.

But this is not the end of the series. I really thought it was, and was getting worried when I started the last cd that things were going to be wrapping up really quickly.

No, this book brought up another thing I tend to dislike about series: making two books more "connected" that the rest of the books in the series. Of course, when I reached the end of both Cinder and Scarlet, I knew there was more to come. They had each introduced characters and plot and situations needing resolution. But they stopped at what I feel like, were good stopping points. Not an absolute cliffhanger, or mid-sentence, or mid-scene, but there is a definite "To be continued...."

Not so with Cress. It stops right in the middle of action, and plot, and character story. This means (a) that I was wrong in thinking this was a trilogy - there is definitely more to come; and (b) that books 3 and 4 are more closely tied together than 1 and 2, or 2 and 3. I don't know why that bothers me! But it does.

Oh, and in as I searched for part 4 - because now I have to find out how things end up overall - I discovered that there are about a billion 1/2 books now in the series. Alas, what i thought was going to be a nice trilogy - which in most cases is about the maximum series length I can tolerate anymore because beyond that everything really seems to be either repeated or simply drawn out way too long (this series is approaching both) - is not only longer than a trilogy, but now I wonder if I should feel obligated to go back to all the 1/2 books that have cropped up in the meantime. I don't like it when authors create that predicament for their readers.

This one is my favorite so far in the series. It is bringing everything together and I love the character of Cress. Excited to finish the series off next month.

The only reason this isn't getting five stars is that it started to drag in the middle. To be honest, I think it was that Mayer had too much for a single book, but not enough to require a second book.

The middle felt like where it should end, but we had a whole lot more happen afterwards, causing the drag.

Still it was understandable why it was done that way and I enjoyed the characters and the pulling together of this ragtag team. I've started the next one already so it's clearly not bad.

I kinda expected more of the book? Everyone told that Carswell was amazing and charming, I mean he is, but I didn’t love him. Because Jacin was right there and he was SPECTACULAR. Also, Winter introduction??? Omg I need to read about her. (I expect a bodyguard trope in the next book please).

Overall, it was a great book with a lots of characters and POVs that sometimes made the reading confusing. Kai and Cinder are still my favourites characters of the saga (Iko too!).

Wow...... this book was frickin amazing! This is by far my favorite book in the series. The writing and the plot was great. I just gotta say it, I love how there are so many ships in this series! The scenes with Thorne and Cress were just so cute! And Cinder and Kai in the end of the book was great! I legit had a moment of fangirling during that! Also Cress is such a sweet character, she has such a good heart! Her backstory is very sad. And her Dad gosh that got me in tears. That really hit me in the feels after reading that one scene where Cress finds out that her dad is the doctor, and that he’s dying.... so sad! Overall this book was fantastic, I’m very pleased with it. I can’t wait to read Winter! I highly recommend this series to anyone that loves science fiction and fairy tale retellings.
