I picked up the latest in this series at Target a while ago, not realizing that it was part of a series. I liked it well enough to seek out some others. The library had a few. Not the first one, of course, but since I'd read the last one, I didn't figure it would matter so much. You can tell the main character, Skye, had changed a lot between this book and the most current one. There were a LOT of characters in this book and it was really hard to keep track of them. Skye was seriously scattered and a bit annoying. Her inability to tell her parents and her best friend to just cut the shit with their stupid relationship problems annoyed the hell out of me. Still, overall, it wasn't bad.

This series is synonymous with fun and entertaining reading, book after book. I've loved it for a variety of reasons. The characters are memorable and wonderfully developed. Skye Denison becomes as fine a fictional book friend as you can make.

Because of a variety of mishaps and bad experiences, Skye is out of work and broke during the summer. She's trying to save up enough for a down payment on a cottage in which she currently lives. She goes to work with her obnoxious uncle who is the town mayor. It's Skye's job to coordinate a 100-mile-long yard sale commemorating Route 66; the small fictional town of Scumble River, Illinois is adjacent to what was the historic highway.

It's a horrible job, and Skye agrees only because her ranting uncle promises all kinds of bonuses when it's over if it's a success. Then, someone murders Cookie Caldwell, a local resident who operates an antique shop in town. Skye and Cookie were at odds because Cookie tried to cheat an elderly woman in town out of an antique vase. Cookie's murder threatens the success of the yard sale, but Skye figures out how to prevent that. things get more tense, however, when the old woman whom Cookie had attempted to cheat is murdered as well.

I didn't see the end of this coming, and the subplots are wonderfully fun. The cliffhanger is absolutely precious and will make you want to read more of the series.

This is such a light, feel-good mystery series despite the murders. And I have to wonder how such a small town can have so many murders in a short time over the course of the series, but I can't get enough of it.

Skye's uncle is the mayor of Scrumble River and decides to hold a 100 mile long yard sale to perk up business and interest in the town. Skye gets the job as coordinator after getting fired from a job in an antique store. After the start of the sale the owner of the antique store is found dead at Skye's family yard sale booth. It is in the county not the city jurisdiction so the county Sheriff is in control of the investigation and is not very good and doesn't like Skye.
She is busy making sure all is going ok with the yard sale but gets caught up looking for the killer especially a nice old lady she likes also is murdered and her uncle orders her to find the killer. She is also dealing with her parents fighting and is staying in their house as she has rented out her cottage to a TV crew for the yard sale. Her friend, Trixie, is having problems with her marriage and the young teenagers, Justin and Frannie, who she advises are also having problems. To top it off her boyfriend Simon is in California and she is supposed to keep an eye on his mother and she is having feelings for Wally, the chief of police. Quite a busy summer for Skye.
The story moves along at a good pace with interesting bits and pieces intertwined.
