This book has helped me out of a slump, due to its ease of picking up and putting down.

OMG, I LOVE THIS READ.
It took me a day to finish this.
Once I start, I couldn't stop.
The read sends me on an adrenaline rush with curiosity, love, sex had character development.
Slyvia Day knows how to write a romance to make us fall in love, tear us apart, make us cry, laugh and also read on about important issues.
Find me, Gideon, because I want to hug him, love him and he can make me his.
I am so curious about his childhood, history, trauma and character development.
The secrets he keeps definitely kept us and Eva on our toes but at the same time, we all just want him to feel love.
Eva was such a queen.
I love she is not really a docile female character that just falls in love and needs saving.
Her back story of her history, abuse and trust was a good balance with Gideon.
She is a badass, feisty independent queen, although sometimes I tire of her running away every time but I get it.
I need to see more of her character development and for her to take charge or her jealousy.
“I have one type: Eva Lauren Tramell. That’s it.” I rolled my eyes.
“Okay. Whatever.”

This was a quick afternoon read. I didn’t like the main characters but I am interested in everything else. There are things, “wrong" with just about everyone in the story except maybe the Dads and Dad adjacent (i.e, mark).
The smut is good! Though this is not a fluff piece. Sex is had and talked about in recreational, self sabotaging, nonconsensual and worrisome ways. The consensual sex is vanilla but has a passionate twist on it. And, the type of sex changes in intensity as the book goes on so I wouldn’t assume it will be the same in the series. There was a very quick bi scene at the end that, if I wasn’t already invested, would’ve invest me into reading book 2.
The drawbacks for me were small and very niche. The use of the c-word in a sexual situation was a moment. Each time I went, "ok, this must be a cultural thing" because that's just... different. Lol. I think the only other thing I got caught up on is one of his outfits. The silver tie? I could get over it. Lol. Kept making me think of those old prom suits from the 80s or something.

-the spice was quite repetitive bc it was either in Gideon’s office, car, or bedroom.
-moreover, the opinions in this book are very outdated. ex: suicide is referred to as the ‘easy and selfish way out’
the ignorance..😑🤦♀️
