I really liked The Defense, but I thought The Plea was even better! A billionaire social media founder was arrested for the murder of his girlfriend. Eddie's wife was implicated in her firm's illegal activity. I thought it was a great way to get Eddie involved in the case - making him try to outwit his opponents to save his client and his wife.
While the Russian mafia wasn't my favorite in the first book, I did like the inclusion of the FBI and CIA in this one. The searching for evidence and the courtroom twists kept this book moving along, with me captivated the whole time.
I also really enjoyed how the book opened with a scene and spent the rest of the time leading right back up to that opening. It was very well done. I'm excited to read the next one!
