Kind of self-help, kind of about mental health. But also just telling the story of staying in the wilderness. I did my own version of this in Canada in August 2019 - I was underprepared and very tired, and didn't stay out quite long enough, as I came back on the third day, but this was like mental preparation for me!

I honestly enjoy this one. While you're not going to learn a ton from it, it is reassuring to hear how comforting being out in nature can be.

I loved this short listen. Despite laying around on the couch instead of getting outside more than I would like, I really do believe in the power of reconnecting with nature, and it was endlessly interesting to hear some of the developing science currently supporting this idea. The author spent time outdoors with different groups each recovering from various types of traumas and I was moved to tears hearing their testimonies of what they've been through and how this type of therapy has helped them. I will definitely be looking up more materials to research about this topic so I appreciate the author listing the groups and scientists who helped her put this together.

Claims to give an insight into the science of improving mental health through nature, then proceeds with one of the most unsound scientific experiments to "prove" their assumption.

I thought Florence Williams did a great job taking a huge discussion and making making it easy to digest. She gives you just enough context and detail that you can follow and understand what's happening, but you aren't completely overwhelmed. The 3-Day Effect left me wanting to buy a ticket and pitch a tent for a few days alone to reconnect and recenter.

It was an interesting listen / read. I enjoyed it even though it was sad to hear about the stories of the people in the project. I was reminded of nature's affect on our wellbeing and gave me a lot of inspiration. I'm giving this book 3 stars, because of my different taste in books. I enjoy a casual fact based "book", but favor fiction because it gives me another world. For people that are interested in facts and science you might rate this more than 3 stars.

Interesting "read." Audible seems loose with it's definition of books, as this was definitely just a long podcast. However, the premise is super interesting, and I look forward to trying out the 3 Day Effect myself.

This is a very quick audiobook where you accompany the author on 4 trips into nature to study the effect this has on people. I thought is was very interesting without getting boring or too scientific.
