This is probably the most screwed up book I’ve ever read.

i didn't know this book was THIS sad. If i find the story melancholic, i won't read the sequels, but damn, i'm hooked.

Over the years I've heard about this book and when I recently read & enjoyed [b:Forbidden|7600924|Forbidden|Tabitha Suzuma|https://d202m5krfqbpi5.cloudfront.net/books/1302655056s/7600924.jpg|10018976] I noticed it again being mentioned and so when I recently passed it in the library I said I'd give it a whirl.

I can definitely see the similarities between the two. How when the lines are blurred between brother/sister to more mother/father people become confused and things can happen.

This definitely had a Stephen King Horrorish vibe to it.

I am curious to find out what happens to the kids but I don't know if I am curious enough to read a whole other book.

These poor kids had such a horrible time of it, I thought the grandmother was bad but WOW the mother really took over as most hated!
