Loved getting the back story for the good dr. Ending was a bit anticlimactic.

Awful

I love this author but this story was awful. I had to check and make sure she wrote it. Wow. It’s just bad.

This novella with vampires is one you will enjoy. Mariana and Raine's story is engaging and fast-paced, it will keep you reading. The romance is hot and sensual, with everything pnr fated mates elements can bring into the story. The Protector Series is one you need to dive into.

Series: Dark Protectors #12.5
Rating: 3 stars - I liked it

Dr. Mariana Lopez has finally decided to stop running from her stalker. But she also has to deal with her attraction to the handsome Raine Maxwell, who is keeping secrets. How will she deal with finding out he is a vampire?

This was a pretty good Dark protectors novella. I usually enjoy these 1001 Dark Night’s novellas because while they are in the same world as the rest of the series they usually have a separate storyline. Also they usually follow a family which I always enjoy. Raine Maxwell comes from an interesting vampire family who is dealing with a genetic curse. I find this quite fascinating because the vampires are supposed to be immune to things like this. It will be interesting to see if Zanetti continues with these brothers and their curse.

Mariana was a smart woman who instantly knows something more is going on with Raine. I liked her but she did have a few moments that were very rash and stupid. Raine and Mariana’s relationship was a fated mate/instant love one. Their relationship was a rather quick one but it was still enjoyable.

Overall, a good novella for the series. I do wonder if she will continue writing about the Maxwell siblings or if this will be the only glimpse into this unique family.

Trigger Warning: Mariana is being stalked and has fled to another state because of it.

Maybe I just expected too much? Seemed convoluted and to tie up to quickly. Maybe I am just not over Vengeance (my favorite of these three...)

These books are a spin-off from the Dark Protectors series, but they can also be read independently! This one is the third novella in the Dark protector/Rebels series. This series revolves around a group of characters who are all part of an anger management group which is made up of kick ass supernatural beings. However, the completely human group leader, Dr Mariana Lopez has no idea.

Mariana moved away to a small town out in Indiana to flee from a stalker. Though her move went well and she's all settled in to the new community the nightmares continue to haunt her, she can't seem to shake off the feeling that something is terribly wrong. She begins to receive threatening messages and she soon realizes that the stalker she did everything she could to escape had made a come back. Though while dealing with all this there was one other complication in her life that she wasn't sure if she needed to find a solution for or not and that was Raine.

Raine is a powerful vampire/demon hybrid, but the catch is that he's living with a deadly curse that will cut his life short unless he finds his mate and claims her. You guessed it, he's found his mate in the most unexpected place, his anger management class. Mariana knows nothing about the supernatural world, and Raine has no plans to actually mate her. Though Raine can't tell her about the supernatural world as he is bound by laws not too, it doesn't stop him from wanting to protect her once he realized the danger she was in.

What I loved about the book was its pace, from the get go its action and story unfolds in front of your eyes and you can't seem to put the book down no matter how hard you try. My favourite part being when Raine learned of Mariana's stalker, he moved himself into her house so that he could protect her. Who doesn't love the living together in close proximity till you inevitably fall in love" trope. There was amazing chemistry between Mariana and Raine despite him not wanting to get involved with her in order to protect and shield her from his world and its dangers. But like I said the falling in love was inevitable, as the sexual tension built through out the book and made their final coming together SO satisfying.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book it was the perfect concoction of sexy and funny with a suspenseful plot that kept me unable to stop reading.
3.5/5!

Another quick, fun, and sexy short story in the Dark Protectors series. This author is great at these filler stories. They absolutely always keep me on the edge of my seat and rolling with laughter.

I really felt for Mariana and the confusion she must have felt when it came to Raine and her stalker. Let’s be honest, if any of these alpha bad boys was connected to us, we’d be quite suspicious if we didn’t know their back story. And then, who can even believe such a tale as immortals, vampires, witches, and more!

With an arc of stories taking place in this small town coming to a close (I assume), I was happy to see the sheriff and others finally get put in their place. There may be more to come out of these stories with other characters, but I’m satisfied with how things are now if there’s not. I have to say though, Tabi is a very bad babysitter. I know she cares about Mariana and Raine, but she really doesn’t do a good job of keeping them safe!

While I’m happy with how things are in their town, I am itching to find out more about the Maxwell family. What a fun twist to the immortal stories we already know and love.

Funny, fast paced and sexy this novella by Rebecca Zanetti is great read! Will Raine convince Mariana that immortality and life by his side is what she wants?! You won’t be able to put down this fated mates story.
