(Duke Battle Book) Quick and fun read about a girl that always gets into trouble, fights pigeons, cuts hair, calls her brother vegetables and misses her Polka Dot.

My 7 year old said “I loved it!” She said Clementine is kind of like me. She liked that Clementine is fun and crazy.

A Ramona Quimby-esque main character with an active mind and a sound lack of judgment, I found Clementine to be funny and compelling. As a third-grader, her maturity level vacillates wildly. But I've found that to be the case with a lot of kids. One day they solve all the problems of the world (like the Great Pigeon War) and the next they are cutting off all their hair and the next they are "wokking" their little brother (bestill my melting heart!), but not too much or he barfs.

Clementine is full of good intentions but beset with unintended consequences. I agree with other reviewers that readers who have enjoyed Clementine might reasonably graduate to Ramona Quimby and later, Anne Shirley.

Clementine is a childhood favorite! Children will connect easily to her creative, problem-solving, fast moving brain. Adults will laugh out loud at Clementine's candid one-liners and relate to her doing-their-best parents.

Clarification to note:
There is socioeconomic and familial diversity, but no racial diversity.

I love this character. She's so well-meaning yet gets herself into the most amusing scrapes.

Cute, cute book about an artistic, creative little red-headed girl whose "abilities" get her into trouble.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE these books! If you have a child making the jump from readers to chapter books these are great. It's hard to find cute, fun, stories for this skill level. There is tons of junk, but not a ton of good stories with realistic kids who find solutions to problems on their own with guidance from adults (who are there and NOT the enemy).

My only problem? There aren't more of them. So Sara please keep writing them!
