Lisa Jewell has always been an odd writer. I never know what genre to place her books in. The storylines always seem to have me say wth did I read? Confused if I like it or not. However, I keep listening to her audiobooks. So there’s that. I haven’t listened or read all of her books yet. So far, this novel seems to be the tamest when it comes to trauma and emotional relationships. There is sexual content.

I kept turning pages with this one! It kept me guessing, too. Some characters I liked, others not so much. This book deals with things some might find triggering. Mental health, infidelity, sexual abuse, (both child and adult), parental abandonment and parental death. Just a slew of things because people are messy. We make bad choices and decisions. There are bad people who chose to hurt others. A few characters are either therapist or are/were in therapy. I thought it gave me a lot to think about and explore, (disclosure: I have experienced some of the issues in the story). I will be suggesting it to friends who enjoy psychology and thrillers.

Not as good as the family upstairs, but was still a fun fast paced mystery/ Family Drama. I predominantly listened to this as an audiobook. I would say that the book also did a good job of highlighting Incel culture and the realities of it, It was clearly well researched.
