Bryan Lee O’Malley loves creating disaster characters and I love reading about them. Imo Katie is more lovable than Scott Pilgrim. He’s a clueless jerk and she’s more of a chaotic mess. My favorite part was when she realized Lis was showing her something profound and then shrugged and proceeded to choose chaos once again. We love a self-aware disaster character. Also the artwork was phenomenal, great use of color, with red and blue as the primary colors throughout. The whole house spirit part of the story was really great!! I would love a spin-off of Hazel taking care of house spirits where ever she goes. I was disappointed that she was shipped with that Patrick guy at the end though because she was perfectly fine on her own.

this was super cute :) as my first graphic novel I think it's fairly safe to say it helped get me into the genre. I loved the interaction between Katie and the narrator!

That was fun! The ending felt like it fell a little flat for me. The main character is the worst in a charmingly lovable way hahaha. Can they stop making the bread makes you fat joke though… please.

Mr. O'Malley does it again! A different take on the themes of "taking control of your own life" that he touched upon in Scott Pilgrim, this follows Katie, a (mentally) struggling restauranteur who finds some (literal) magic mushrooms in her apartment and uses them to change the past!
The main thrust of "you have one life, own it" is basic, but it's delivered with O'Malley's signature charm so I'd give it a read if either appeal to you.
