At Last is the first book in the Adams Brothers series and debut novel by Mindy McKinley. This is a well-written sexy and steamy co-worker romance, with just enough drama and angst to keep things interesting.
Lola is a great teacher, but lacks confidence and so tends to keep a low profile. Dom is a history teacher working at the same school, who has a bit of a player reputation. They have had little to do with each other until he sees Lola sing at a local Jazz club. Then things take an interesting turn.
A fun read. Looking forward to more from Mindy McKinley in the future.

Thank you, Mindy McKinley!

At Last: Adams Brothers: Book 1 by Mindy McKinley is a beautiful steamy contemporary romance. This is Mindy’s debut novel and wow did she do a good job. She has a passion that clearly flows through her words. I laughed and cried at this emotive story, watching as they fell in love. The story is told in the main characters POV and I loved their witty banter. If the other brother in the Adams family is like this, then sign me up.

This book surprised me, I'll admit it. I've never read anything by this author and picked it up based off of the cover. Dom and Tallulah were such a cute couple, but not in the fluffy no substance kind. What I enjoyed most about this couple is that their relationship seemed very realistic. There is romance, but the parts that got me were the tender moments, the moments that they cared about each other, the simple brush of a hand, and the best was the banter. I am a woman who loves to banter and harass my man and get it back. There is romance and some HOT intimate scenes but they don't drive the story or the book. There was substance to the words, to the story, there were surprises and even a little twist. They dealt with real world things and this book did a great job of showing how a couple thinks about those differently, but also how they find their strength in each other. The author's writing style is very easy to read, the words just flowed, and she made you feel connected to each person even the secondary character like Amy, Mason, and Seb. If you enjoy contemporary romance that is about more than just doing it you will want to pick up this book. I already preordered the next book this morning!

I have long waited for this book from Mindy! But I wasn't prepared for the level of feels! Hot teachers? Minor office romance? (WITH TEACHERS!) Steamy scenes?! Jazz as foreplay??!! I don't know where to start. I loved Lula's natural awkwardness at all times - unless she is singing. And I adored Dom's natural aversion to feelings or exploring his own reticence to accept his mom moving on romantically. They naturally curled into each other's embrace and helped each other grow - which is the loveliest thing a romance can do!

Did I mention the steam though? I didn't?! It demands to be mentioned. Without being overly explicit it was a wildly sexy story! The build up alone had me squirming. The teacher rep kind of killed me - as a teacher all of these are real feelings and moments. I want more of this ride or die bestie and can't wait to see the other sexy brothers in action!

I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
