Offensive in its implict description of Uganda as inferior to the US and repeated armchair diagnoses. Didn't care for the narrative structure. And I really thought there would be more sociological investigation and nuisance along the lines of "understanding the people who join" cults. Finished it more out of morbid curiosity than because I actually gleaned anything about the psychology of cults.

It was fine. I feel like the author is trying a little too hard to hit all 7 of the characteristics of a cult leader instead of actually going into some deep dives of the various cults that he features. Would have cut about half the examples and really go in detail instead.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for a review, opinions are my own.
