I really enjoyed this book. Loved how the story of creation was told through a young woman as a witness. It wasn't only the story of creation but also her journey of feeling unworthy and broken. With the scholarly aspect and a touch of a sci-fi feel it was enjoyable in that it didn't have that preachy feel that makes some Christian fiction less enjoyable.

While I understand how and why this book (and his other) are torn apart theologically, I found myself very much enjoying this story. That being said, after trying to match the story with Bible history for the first 50 pages or so, I gave up and just let the narrative happen. I then found immense joy, sadness, heartbreak, and victory in this story. It is such a beautiful and sweeping novel, full of many picturesque things. I loved this book as a fiction novel with core Christian values and principles. However, to see it as more than that (especially written by a simple man) would be dangerous and unnecessary.

I only gave this book 3 stars because I felt it had a lot of filler text in it. What I mean by that is while the story was intriguing and the retelling of creation was written very artistically the book itself had a lot of paragraphs that seemed to ramble on. I wish the author had maybe focused more on the story line and giving the relationships more in depth detail rather than ramblings of paragraphs that only skimmed a little of what the story line was about.

It took me a bit to get into this story. The beginning of the story was kind of hard to get through. I generally thought it was kind of a weird tale. There were aspects that were very good, but for the most part I only finished it to see where it would go.
