This book kept going and reminded me of all the reasons Stephen King is a visionary. His brand of thriller is generationally good, on the same plane as Hitchcock. This is a page turning excellent companion to The Shining and should be read by anyone who wondered what ever happened to little Danny Torrance.

I was full of anxiety about reading a sequel to something as amazing as The Shining but this book did not disappoint. Stephen King's mind must be one heck of a place to rattle around inside, and these characters have been stewing for a long time. These are the beings of nightmares and bumps in the night, I don't regret a minute of these pages.

Me gusta mucho lo que escribe Stephen King, la vuelta que dio a la historia con este libro es asombrosa. Creo que le interesa mucho el poder que podría llegar a tener la mente y a mi también así que todo bien.

What Doctor Sleep lacks in scares compared to its predecessor it more than makes up for in character-building and storytelling. I honestly loved this way more than The Shining.

I was really looking forward to reading this as I wanted to before the movie comes out, and I wasn't disappointed. I did like The Shining a bit better as I found it generally more scary/thrilling, but Doctor Sleep is still a good spooky read. The writing is brilliant, fast-paced, and keeps you on your toes. Not only does this add to the horror genre, but provides an analysis regarding how alcoholism affects the family not only when it's occurring, but also future generations. Couldn't put it down, and can't wait to see the movie adaptation. King continues the story and adds definition and depth to the world he introduced in The Shining.

I would definitely recommend reading The Shining first(some people are debating if you have to read it to understand?) as I feel that quite a bit of character development and plot twists revolve around The Shining.

Slowish start but overall much better pacing than the Shining, and a story that interested me more
