I enjoyed this for what it was. I wasn't initially sure how I would handle a rejected mates storyline because I LOVE fated mates, but I was willingly to try it out.

I will say, I was ready for this book to be like super spicy and for the most part it was not. It's pretty fluffy in terms of Killian who is just a straight simp for Una, once he stops being an ass. Their story is pretty cute and slightly heartbreaking when you learn it. Their banter is fun.

I liked the world that was created with the wolves and how they interact with others. How they shift and how the wolves are kind of their own personality while also being a part of the human.  I hated how much it was a slow burn and how far we dragged it out. Like our I love yous, TOOK A DECADE. I don't handle slow burns well.

Mostly the story was just alright. I enjoyed the journey but there was nothing that made me LOVE it. It's a pretty solid shifter book so I will eventually finish the series.

I enjoyed it! The rejected mate trope has to be written just right for me to enjoy it. This book only had one instance where I almost quit reading but it didn’t progress long enough to kill the Mate bond for me or seem beyond reasonable forgiveness. Anyways I’m not sure why I am hooked on these right now, but I am.

This one did a decent job. I really loved Una. She was such a great female mc. She was smart, clever, and steadfast in her self respect.

Killian was a bit of an idiot. I don’t really get how he can be so “progressive” yet react so cruelly when Una shifted the first time… but whatever.

Anyways I’m hoping we get more of the side character’s stories in the next books!

LOVED this rejected mate story- this is the trope done right! This is delicious, well written, and I love how the shifter world is a whole different culture- nesting, knotting, and presenting- OH MY! Grabbed me completely and a fast read- if only we had a SMIDGE more spice.

LOVED:
1. THE GROVEL is so good- loved this alpha writing his wrongs, I live for the grovel in rejected mate stories and this is grovel!
2. A strong heroine who is also vulnerable and a bit fragile. I love that she didn't make it easy for him
3. a great girl gang of friendships who are all sassy and a wonderful sisterhood (I need a Mari book!)
4. sexy alpha
5. past trauma
6. VERY wolfy. This feels like a shifter book- it's not just characters who happen to be shifters

New to me author, but I'm gonna devour this series
