An excellent read. Jim Butcher continues building the momentum from [b:Changes|6585201|Changes (The Dresden Files, #12)|Jim Butcher|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1304027244s/6585201.jpg|6778696]. While the pacing of [b:Ghost Story|8058301|Ghost Story (The Dresden Files, #13)|Jim Butcher|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1311704433s/8058301.jpg|12731936] is different from Changes, the plot and character development continue. Thirteen books in, and Mr. Butcher has made what was already an enjoyable and interesting world even more so. There's no stagnation, as there often is with long running series, and while he's continually reinventing Dresden's Chicago, I still recognize and love the characters. Highly recommended.

So refreshing that 12 books in, Jim Butcher still has great ideas to share. A great insight into the spiritual side of the world

In which Dresden gets all mopey and introspective. I suppose it's justified, him being dead and all.
This one is quite different from previous and subsequent books in the series. Where usually the focus is on Dresden solving the mystery and blowing things up (not necessarily in that order), in Ghost Story Harry is relegated to a quasi-observer status. Unable to physically interact with the world of the living he gets to act as a scout and provide information and encouragement to his still living allies. And of course, he gets some time to brood over his life choices that lead him to this point.
And I liked the change of pace. I enjoy the usual "Dresden smash" approach to things but it's nice to see Dresden take a different approach to tackling the enemy and it gives an opportunity for more of Dresden's back story which gives some cool scenes.
And, of course, any time shows up it's a huge bonus.

I was eager to see where this series was going to go after the sea change in Changes. The answer is... I don't know. I did think the beginning of this book to be really interesting. However, I found the main plot line of the book very ponderous and kind of boring. I just couldn't get into it. Perhaps it was too many Star Wars jokes. In the end, with the last (albeit interesting) chapter, this whole story felt a bit like a "moving pieces on the board" episode instead of anything truly substantial or intriguing.
