I realise this book has received a lot of positive praise and I certainly wouldn't say it was no good but I did feel a little underwhelmed by this book. There are definitely some sad moments and it is a bit touching at times but I found it a bit hard to keep track of the characters and the timeline.
It is quite descriptive and I liked that but I felt it to be quite disjointed and I never felt entirely engrossed or gripped by the plot/the characters. It is a short read, one you should be able to read in a day if your on holiday I imagine. If you like the authors work then its probably worth a read but I wouldn't especially recommend it as such, although I do realise that I may well be in the minority saying this.

Memories within memories. The light in the darkness. The little moments of beauty stitched through the pain. In Tin Man, Sara Winman gives us a snapshot of the deep friendship, love, and connection between a chosen family so precious, it’ll break your heart. I kinda wish we could have gotten Anne’s perspective but to find out half way through that we got to see inside Michael’s head was a nice surprise.

This short book was challenging to know what was going on in the beginning and the lyrical writing makes it a little more cryptic. Once the story unravels the book becomes this beautiful story and one of the best reads of my 2024. I can’t give this book the justice it deserves.

No quotation marks and a very abrupt ending. Honestly, nobody in this book is really happy.
