Interesting read for sure; a contemplation on rampant automation. Worth reading

Very clearly one of Vonnegut's early novels, but still brilliant. Interestingly enough, I think it follows 1984 and Brave New World's themes, but in a more realistic and relatable way. Unlike most of Vonnegut's later novels, Player Piano is much more simplified and focused. He focuses on one story line and keeps his themes and points straightforward. His prose is still classically Vonnegut, though.

It was so awful, so very very awful. It was like a boring, poorly written Atlas Shrugged, but worse. OK, I guess it came before Atlas Shrugged, but still. Atlas Shrugged, Player Piano, and 1984 are all spartan dystopian novels of a kind. In this one, the dystopia is due to automation. It's killing the souls of humans! Wreck the machines! Gag. It's not insightful or clever or accurate or enjoyable.
