It's the latest installment of John Allison's tale-of-snarky-yet-innocent-middle-schoolers-and-supernatural-goings-on-in-a-floppy-format-that-you-need-three-hands-to-support. (Honestly, you must read this thing on a table --- no perusing in the bathroom or on mass transit.) As always, it's quite fun.

This is peak Bad Machinery, my favorite of the cases. Lottie trying to break all the pool rules, Mildred's impossible love, and a story about selkies that rivals the Tomm Moore movie.

One of my favorite Bad Machinery cases! Mildred and Sonny are the stars of this book, and I loved Mildred’s conflicting feelings as she fell for a bad boy. Meanwhile, Sonny has his own set of feelings about the new girl to deal with. I loved how John Allison added one extra panel to the comic as well as the explanation of the panel in his notes on the artwork at the end of the book. It really made the ending so much sweeter :)

I love Bad Machinery so much--these little British teens are just delightful. This volume has selkies and makeouts! Great stuff!

The sketchbook at the end gave a much happier ending than I'd originally understood. Don't miss it!
