My grumpy boss

This was a really good story. This author makes the readers feel what the characters are feeling. Can not wait to see what is next from this author.

This one was an interesting premise with an administrative assistant who does everything for her boss and is fed up. She writes in an electronic diary to relieve her stress but mistakenly sends it to him. He finds is amusing but also confusing because he really thinks she is happy and does a great job.

Phillipe has a lot of stress due to taking over his fathers business after he passed and feels the pressure to be as good as his dad, leading him to have panic attacks. He essentially blackmails Sutton to attend his sister's wedding with him to make his mother happy. In turn he won't fire her.

I struggled to really connect with Sutton, and she came across as very immature, and babyish even with the pillow wall she uses to keep them apart when sharing a bed.

I did appreciate the panic attack representation but this one just felt flat for me.

Cute and quirky

Cute romance between mundane (not supernatural) humans. I specify human and not supernatural because the series is alphalicious. Still really cute. There were moments of intense laughter and wtf did I just read laughter. Read it.

As a way to relieve the stress in her life Sutton’s Granny (who she lives with) suggested thats she wrote a diary. Noting down anything and everything from her days in a file on her work computer. Mainly moaning about her grumpy boss Phillippe. After getting a report wrong and solving another of his panic attacks she accidentally emails him the diary file instead of the report.

Phillippe has been running his fathers company for four years since he passed away. Four years of stress and strain are taking their toll on his body with panic attacks starting to become more frequent. Opening up the email from Sutton he thinks she has sent some motivation diary template to help him. Instead, he starts reading her innermost thoughts and feelings about him. Finding that not only is she a beautiful writer but hilarious with it too.

Assuming she is fired she hastily writes her resignation and waits to be called into his office. However, he has a proposal for her – become his fake girlfriend for his sister’s wedding. They strike a deal although Sutton isn’t sure that this is going to work. Especially when They keep bickering with each other. But as her Granny says there is a fine line between love and hate.

Good story, but it felt like bits of the story are missing with jumps in the time frame which made it a bit worse for me to enjoy

At about 75%, I had to find out the age of the author. The answer is, old enough to have a two year old. Because seriously, “tingle in my dingle” wtf? And the name calling & arguments were reminiscent of 14 year olds having a spat. But, since I was so far into the book, I finished it.

And, I was treated to a very happy ending. I love a good, squishy ending & this one got me in all the feels. So, despite my reaction to the first 3/4 of the book, the last bit made it all worthwhile. Thus the 3⭐️’s.

The story was enjoyable and easy to read, however some of the language and phrases used felt somewhat immature in contrast to the mature content. Although the story was good it felt reminiscent of an early fan-fiction/Wattpad kind of piece.

2 1/2 stars but I’ll round up to three

I mean it was okay. The storyline was okay until the last 10% and then I kind of rolled my eyes. It had a good pace though and I enjoyed not having to wait too long for things to happen.

I think the writing could have been more refined and polished. In the nicest way possible, the writing felt unsophisticated and not what I would expect to find in a published book. Unrefined is the best way to explain it. Not that it was bad. But yeah. It just felt wattpadish.
Anyway I finished it and it definitely wasn’t unpleasant to read.
