The book tore me apart. So wholesome & heartwarming, absolutely recommend to anyone. Especially one's who lacked an older positive figure in their lives.

One of the most wholesome books I read. It's a comfortable read, and one you won't regret. Very easy 5 stars.

Ove grew on me a lot, as he did for his neighbors & loved ones. This book was so beautifully written, from the gradual reveal of the life he built with Sonya to the way he unintentionally builds a new family with his neighbors after he loses her; how he knew this is what Sonya would've wanted. He loses the one person who has ever understood him, & then he realizes that he doesn't need to be understood to be loved. Hold on I'm tearing up again...
& the way his HEART WAS TOO BIG
shut up I am not crying...

Ove's the type of girl to insist he's not helpful, he just thinks you're doing it wrong, but it's okay he will do it for you (but only because he knows that otherwise you won't be able to do it properly, it's not for helping purposes, it's really not).

One of my favorite books of the year methinks! I 🫶 Ove, slay you grumpy but generous king 👑

Incredible book that gets you attached to the characters. One chapter I would be laughing and the next I would be crying. Heavy themes with incredible quotes that will stick with you for awhile after reading.

I saw this film at the Palm Springs Film Festival in 2016. It was an incredibly beautiful film and when I learned that it was based on a book, I had to read it. Despite already knowing the plot, I still had raw visceral reactions at many stages of reading it.

The book was so much better than the film, but the film had a great adaptation and kept the best aspects of the book. I loved the ending of the book much more than the movie cause it showed
Ove's relationship with the kids
which made me so happy but simultaneously sad.

For me, a book that makes me sob and feel so many emotions is a great book.

This book reminded me in turns of the movies Harold and Maude and It's a Wonderful Life. I was sold from the first chapter, when I could immediately visualize the poor Apple store employee along with Ove, shaking the box as the employee pleads with him not to.

While this book seems like it might be dark and depressing, it's anything but. I loved Ove early on, and I love the community surrounding him.

And the cat.

Especially the cat.
