This book had me in the first half, not going to lie. “A Love Song For Ricki Wilde” was funny but I found it lacking. I absolutely love magical realism so I am quite disappointed. I enjoyed the descriptions of Harlem so much that I plan on finding a nonfiction book on it very soon. The beginning of Ezra’s backstory had me intrigued. Then, Felice was introduced and it began to go downhill for me. Regarding his condition, I was a little confused when he described other people like him. I wish the plot was different because I really wanted to like it. I am truly bummed. There are some really good quotes in here though. The longing between them was done so well I just knew it was going to be an incredible backstory about it.

I think this one has solidified Tia Williams as an auto-buy author for me! I really enjoyed the story concept and I loved Ricki as a character.

I will say that the romantic connection in this is more along the lines of insta-love, which is not my personal preference when it comes to love stories. But it made sense in the context!

Beautiful writing, great cast of characters, and an ending that made me extremely weepy.

This was good to me! A magically beautiful love story of Ezra and Ricki! The genre blend was amazing. And I loved the little pop culture references. Great read!

Just like everyone else, I was surprised by this book. I didn’t expect it to have a magical turn but it was awakening and refreshing. I don’t often indulge in fantasy books. If that’s what it’s even considered. Needless to say, I loved the storyline and the characters even more. Ms. Della was my favorite character. She even taught me a few things. Ezra and Rickie’s love was truly God sent.

I love Tia Williams, her writing is hilarious, and I found myself laughing out loud a lot. I was already a Tia Williams stan, but after tying together black love, black history, the Harlem Renaissance, and love curses!? I will forever read anything she writes. This book gave me all the feels, and even made me question my own personal goals. Thanks to #netgalley for the ARC!
