I’m still considering if 2 stars is too much....

A whole bunch of meh. I finished this yesterday and I'm already forgetting most of it.

Lana is not a very interesting (or fleshed out at all to be made relatable) protag. She's super rich. She's basically planning to gentrify this town and feels really sad that the people there don't want this to happen. But it's supposed to be okay because she's flexible on the rent payments and tries to catch a moose? I wasn't buying it.

Also the cousin who is trying to gaslight her is sooo annoying - not a clever protagonist, just a bore of a plot thread. Really the whole rich family is so over the top cliche, like a character is literally in the hospital dying, but they all want to attend a Christmas party to maintain their image? Bleh

I can't really tell you anything about Rick. His nephew is much more interesting, a troubled boy who lost his entire family when he was young and tends to lash out. Rick is just...a guy, who kind of likes Lana and owns a pool hall which he doesn't want to lose. At one point he gets hit with a tranq dart and it wasn't even really funny.

There were cute moments. The moose-hunting was ridiculous, but fun. Their first date sequence where they get snowed in at a shady B&B filled with taxidermy squirrels was actually very amusing, and definitely the highlight of the book. And the intriguing but greatly underused nephew. There's not NOTHING in this book, but I definitely barely remember it already.

Super hilarious and cute. Definitely loved Lana and Rick as a couple. Some of the situations were a little contrived if you take it too seriously. But, if you're here for a fun time, you'll enjoy it.

This is the follow up to The Tourist Trap which I read earlier this year and absolutely adored, so I was pretty excited to read this and return to Moose Springs, Alaska. We have Lana who works for a company that recently bought a lot of the businesses in town and is trying to find a way to help them out but the town wants nothing to do with her. We are also following Rick who owns a small bar and is one of the businesses in need of help. Overall I really enjoyed this one, I loved seeing a softer side of Lana who wasn't my favorite character in the first one. Lana really loves the town and just wanted everyone to be successful there. I wasn't a huge fan of the Santa moose plot line that seemed to take up a lot of this book, the reveal of the Santa moose was a bit of a let down for me. I still really loved the writing and the town and the characters and can not wait to read the third book in the series! Thank you to netgalley and Sourcebooks Casablanca for my complimentary copy for my honest review.

I love this series so much. Heck with the haters, my February desperately needed an off-balance Christmas romance featuring a naughty moose.
