I started reading this but then I downloaded the audiobook because I was driving and I’m so glad I did! I loved the narrator. She fit the main character perfect! This was super funny.
I didn’t know that this book was also about loosing a pet because it really focused around that as well as the musical. I liked Julia and Olive’s friendship.

Honestly finished way faster than I thought; it just kept me hooked. I starting hating Julia when she got a bit too cocky ykyk. I am reading this from an older perspective butI think it can show children to always try something new. Overall a great book.

This was a wonderful book. I loved the messages, the characters, the wit, the story line, everything! I actually reviewed it for my assisted living Seniors and they loved it too. I actually got a round of applause at the end which has never happened before!

Not amazing but I have an idea of which students are likely to enjoy it.

I got this book as a sneak peak ARC from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
I really enjoyed the sample of Short and would love to read the rest. I love Sloan's work and especially, the quirky family, who is lovable and entertaining; and the protagonist that feels out of place and struggles to find somewhere she can belong.
The sample only included the first three chapters and I did have some difficulty ascertaining Julia's age. At times she sounds young, but also filled with wisdom.

Another quirky narrator who is more likable than the one in my other recent read (Never Let You Go). Not the best written or most inventive story I've read in a while, but it had some nice moments and I can see my daughter really enjoying it in a year or so. Gets bonus points for L Frank Baum references and for the fact that the last 1/4 of it got me through a really painful wait at the DMV.
