I was actually surprised by how much I liked this and I think a lot of it has to do with this being my first plus-sized protagonist in a fantasy world. I liked Larken a lot - her insecurity in both her body and her abilities was intensely relatable (if you don't have imposter syndrome.... I mean, good for you, also, what's that like?!) - and I like that she acquired that Night Vale wisdom: you're beautiful when you do beautiful things. I also felt like the work was done so that her friend group really felt like her friends by the end. I just really liked this, and I'm shocked about it because I have been over fae stuff for quite some time - looking forward to the sequel!

I made it to 210 pages out of 300, so I am going to mark it as read. Two stars since I did make it through that much. I was really hoping that while I hadn't been so drawn in with the book from the start, that the end would cinch it for me. But while I was checking how many pages I had left (I know that's a dangerous thing to do while reading.), I saw that last twist on the final pages. It was exactly what I saw coming, and that made it so boring.

I'm glad I saw it because I would have been even more frustrated had I actually finished. I think the romance is going to be a great burn though, I probably just won't see it. Bookish Box did such a pretty edition for this book, so I'm even more regretful that I disliked it so much.

Yet another book I have read and forgot about but I liked it. The twist at the end is crazy. Going to read the second one. The audiobook makes it so much better

Again another book I wanted to like a lot more than I actually did. Plot was interesting. World was cool and vivid but there was way to much "say" not enough "do". I had to go back to the authors character tiktok like 10 times cause I kept getting them confused. Lots of backstories bunched up together in the beginning. Again I liked it and I'll definitely read book 2. Just had a few issues that made reading take a while.

First half of the book: 1 star. Second half: 3.5-4 stars. Overall I ended up enjoying this book, but I really disliked the first half. It started off as Uprooted, then turned into ACOTAR, which combined with the excessive and repetitive internal dialogue, I became annoyed very quickly with the lack of originality and direction in the story.
The second half of the book took a turn and we saw more character growth and development, more world building and the story actually started going somewhere. Although it was still quite predictable, I did enjoy it and will probably read the sequel when it comes out!

I enjoyed this book I just thought the beginning was a little slow. I really liked the way the bond was written in here, it was not like any other fantasy book I have read to date. The ending was not something I guessed and it has me wanting to get the next book soon!

Excellent book and ending, although I hate Dahey now.

I would have liked the girl to be more nimble though, but I guess that no one's perfect.

Every time I thought I had this pegged I was wrong, which was nice tbh. There were times the author was a little heavy handed in the exposition, but the ending made up for it for me. I'm glad I read it and am going to read the second for sure.
