Douglas isn't the marrying kind until he makes a wager to determine if Madeline Wilde is the infamous Lady Constance and winds up becoming her friend and finding her fascinating instead.  Madeline on the other hand holds herself aloof from everyone since her husband died a few years back and while she tries her best to put off Douglas he slowly worms his way into her good graces.
A fun little novella used to marry off the FMC's brother from book 1 and it was just as much fun as the rest of the series has been so far.

This novella is about Joan's brother, Douglas (from Love and Other Scandals) and Madeline (a mysterious widow).

This being a novella, it was somewhat rushed, but I really felt like the characters cared for each other. And the plot was interesting, even if it was somewhat low-stakes.

Douglas grew on me. I didn't like him much in Love and Other Scandals, but he matured a lot.

Madeline took some questionable relationship advice from her mother which caused some issues, but it doesn't last super long.

There was a Joan/Burke cameo, which was fun.

No epilogue.

About 3.5 stars. Cute enough and just the right length for a novella, though it doesn't have quite enough 50 Ways to Sin beyond Dougals's reaction. Was nice to see Joan and Tristan again. Loved Madeline's maid, Constance, and her cat Mr. Nash
