3.5 stars rounded up. Overall not a bad story. Just a lot of characters to track and a few sections without much action. May proceed with the next book in the series.

Plot a touch derivative and the writing a bit indifferent in places. Gripping, though.

The start of the premise kind of reminded me of 2001 a Space Oddisey's... however, once the story started I was hooked and it became a great thriller about a new space race to get to the moon.
It was great, maintaining the mystery, paying attention to the politca, the science and how it would be to be there when we have contact with an alien device.

Not a bad SF romp, albeit very derivative of key 2001 iconography

Uff this was badly written. Astronauts on a Russian space station that allegedly don’t understand Russian? Pretty Russian woman who is portrait as stupid instead of using the opportunity to reveal how dumb and patriarchic patriotism is? Also Vladimir and Dmitry as the first Russian names? That’s just ridiculously hilarious. John Smith and Henry Miller say hello 🙄 To no fault of the author, the novel became outdated with SpaceX starting to launch Americans from American soil again making the whole premise that the US is underprepared for a second spontaneous space race null and void. Bezos and Musk would be tripping over themselves to get NASA to an alien base.

Hmm interesting
It was quite introductory to the series with fast-paced action. Yet, it felt short and simple. Nothing twist and everything is within expectations parameter. Also, this book reminds me of a book called the Saturn running. Honestly, I thought there would be a firefight and bloody stalemate inside the alien whatever chamber. Let see with next book.

Loved it
A really good space exploration yarn and I look forward to reading more. There’s a little silliness in government attitudes and decisions but I’ll forgive the author
