I was a tiny bit underwhelmed by this book. It had gotten so much hype and I don’t think it really lived up to it.

Reading it in the form of an interview or documentary is interesting, I had never read anything like that. It did make you feel connected to the characters but also introduced a level of unreliability across narration.

The premise and background was really interesting, but it got boring for a bit.
Spoiler The Six’s rise to fame and Daisy’s ego on her first album were just not holding me, it didn’t get interesting again until daisy joins the band and introduces tension, along with eddie’s growing dislike of billy and graham and Karen’s involvement. The collapse of the band makes sense, but was still not as climactic as I hoped for.

Similarly, the writing goes back and forth between incredible and lazy. Much too much musical description, but the descriptions of the characters emotion and the comedy between that aforementioned reliability is what keeps you there.

The Prime series is due any day so will be interesting to compare but already Regret Me has different lyrics so will likely lose more of the meaning

In many ways, I'm not sure why I like this book so much. It was so intensely readable (I listened to it, which might be part of it) and I think I'll look back on the story in the future.
