This was a great combo for a working duo. Alek and Maggie. They are FRIENDS. That's it. And I love their friendship. Alek is human and troll, so much fun. Makes for a great fight when it happens. lol. Maggie is a jinn, stuck in a ring. There's more to her history, and we get hints of that in this book. I look forward to learning more about that.

Alek is owned by his boss. Literally. He has to do the jobs he's given. Alek is out to solve the troubles that are happening, and yes there will be fights. We even get to see Maggie in action too. And the things we learn, also shares more of Alek's history.

I felt like these two had true personalities of their own. Their actions felt true to their beliefs and who they are. I really enjoyed this.

This book is really good all around. The audio narration. The characters and action and story. Great writing.

I want more and I WILL be getting the next book.

This was a fun novella. It is set in Ohio where I'm from and adding in imps, magicians, trolls, etc. while following a bounty hunter/repo man with magical tattoos makes for a quick enjoyable read. I'm starting the 2nd one right away.

Great quick and fun read.

A somewhat overpowered debt collector faces the fantastic world...

I've been a fan of urban fantasy for awhile, and I'm also a fan of Brian McClellan (I loved his flintlock fantasy series, the Powder Mage series), and this was _pretty good_. It's functionally a short story (about 150 pages), and has an intriguing set-up. But as much as I like urban fantasy, I've found I'm *really picky about it.* For example, if this were a full-sized novel, I'd probably down it to 3* rather than 4*, I don't love Kevin Hearne's stuff (even though I think he's talented), and much of the urban fantasy literature that's popped up recently has felt a bit too much like "clones of Jim Butcher or Supernatural." This isn't the case here, but it's not up to snuff for his powder mage work. It's a quick read though, and I'll check out the next one to see how it develops!

Uncanny Collateral was a fun urban fantasy which packs a lot in its short 150 pages. Alek Fitz is a reaper, a collection agent/bounty hunter of sorts for the supernatural world. He is a great lead, reminiscent of Jim Butcher’s Harry Dresden, that comes across quite sympathetic and very likable. Alongside is Maggie, an ancient djinn trapped in a ring, who is his Bob the Skull to Alek’s Dresden. The story is action-packed with an intriguing mystery overtop of a richly filled world. Alek really drew me in and left me wanting to read on even after the book ended.
