I didn't realize how inherently fucked up this book would be? but also i found it very moving and therapeutic in other ways. There is an exploration of mommy issues that was reasonable but the degree it essentially intertwined mommy issues to sexuality was a bit too much.

But i do believe there is some fantastic ED portrayal, fantastic character writing, and it's incredibly honest. I respect the hell out of the main character's journey to self-acceptance and health and peace.

Not for reading if you aren't up for some of the most graphic sex scenes I've seen outside of fantasy!

Ultimately, this book wasn’t for me. The atmosphere reminded me of early 2000s indie films where characters only had conversations with awkward silences and that was never my vibe.
Overall I found the book filled with unlikable characters who I didn’t really care about and a story line that left me confused and underwhelmed.

Melissa Broder has a way of keeping my attention. Her characters, to me, are relatable and easy to love. Milk fed was no different. There is a journey of self-discovery, being aware of yourself and your thoughts, and truly thinking about what "love" really means.

I also love the cultural representation of the Jewish community.

Be aware that the content consists of: eating disorders, body shaming, homosexuality, and sex.

I laughed, I got mad, but importantly... I was invested. I believe you will root for moments too! Pick it up for a quick and entertaining read.

This book was so •for me•, I felt it had the exact same reflections and pattern recognitions as I do.
It is not a book for most people, in fact, I’d expect most people to find it gross, meaningless, cringe (?). But oh did I enjoy being so seen by a woman I’ll never know.

I ended up liking it in the end but as a fat woman I was nervous for a little bit. Also one of the characters is named Miriam. I was listening to it on 1.5 so sped up it sounds like Mirielle (my name) which is wild to me because I never totally understood how people could get those names mixed up. But I definitely understand now!!! I just keep thinking they are talking about or to me 😂😂😂
