Especially when you finish series like Scarlet Scars !!!! It is so hard to find something after that. I mean, where else can I find something so good where I found everything that I love in book. After finish this book it still is with you in your thoughts.

Grievous was darker continuation of the events of the previous section Menace. I knew that Scarlet (Morgan)is a strong woman, but damn what she survived being with Vor, and the fact that she didn't give up and is still fighting damn again ... what a character.

This book shows her past what she has been through and I can't get my head around at how this story is fuck up. It is really bad and disturbing but at the same time it's captivating as hell. Once again  I couldn't put the book down.

And Lorenzo ... he is crazy weird and funk up and  I still didn't know what to make of him. In this part he was more a human and because of that more troubled.

I could see that he has a soft side of course in his own fuck up way. I didn't see him as monster or soulless asshole. Don't get me wrong he was an asshole most of the time or yeah, he can kill a person without blinking. But somehow that didn't matter. What matter was that that finally someone see him as a person, saw more what is behind the mask. You now, took a effort at least and didn't ran or judge. And that someone for Lorenzo was Scarlet.

Beyond the story and the characters I liked in this series that there was something more than empty love story. It forced me into thinking on various issues. Eg. Fact that most of us judge people by appearance, we become more and more vain and more selfish, so few of us really care about other people's problems. But back to the point. There were a lot of different quotes at which I thought to myself, "That's so true".

"You see, people don’t really listen anymore, no... they just sit around waiting for everyone else to shut up, waiting until it’s finally their turn to talk. Back and forth, an endless cycle that gets us nowhere, because nobody really gives a shit about what’s being said."

Or from the first part:

"There’s a reason girls yell ‘fire’ instead of ‘rape’, why we lie and say we have boyfriends instead of just saying ‘no’ when we’re not interested. Because a lot of men respect another man’s property more than they respect a woman’s right to her own body. "

Yeah, It was great great series. Usually I don't read the series that tells the story of one couple. For me always another part is boring, because generally it is the same book written in different words and circumstances change but the feelings and problems remain the same. In this series, it was different. Between the parts it could be seen a change in the feelings that are growing. As for the development of events, it was completely different, in the second half was more action. In fact, the first part was the introduction of history, leaving you in suspense and impatience, wanting more.
My review of Menace can be read here.

After leaving the first book on a cliffhanger, knowing J.M. Darhower was reeasing Grievous a short while after was a relief.

Diving straight in, knowing I was going to get the answers to the questions I was left with, I devoured each and every word in the matter of a day.

While I loved the characters in the first book, I loved the MORE in this one. Morgan, while breaking, is still as strong and quick mouthed as ever. Despite the one thing she wants, she's not blinkered in her fight to get what is hers back.

And Lorenzo... well. He's still foul mouthed, quick to anger, but he has a soft side. But, don't cross him because let's face it. He's a bit batshit...

Grievous is as, if not more, fast paced as Menace. The action never slowing or losing momentum keeps the reader turning the page, needing to know how everything's going to play out in the end.

There are certain characters I wanted to see hurt, and other I wanted to see get their HEA. It doesn't happen that way for everyone (Sorry Three), but nothing ever came across as forced or as a thrown in plot point.

Another excellent series from Darhower.

*Review for reread on audiobook*
Same as the first book, upon the reread I changed the rating from five stars to four because whilst it was a great read, it wasn't unforgettable. And despite the fact that I don't remember the story from reading it four years ago, the sequel is as predictable as it comes. Lorenzo became Scarlet's knight in shining armor and save her from Kassian. Oh, and since this is a dark twisted romance, there is a twist coming at the end about who actually Sasha's father is, which I don't really care much about. I actually feel like changing the rating to three stars but since it's JM Darhower, I'm a bit biased. Still a nice read though.

I don't think I've ever read a book and found a character as interesting as Lorenzo in a very long time, he was fucked up in the head but I really loved him.

This book was phenomenal and I couldn't stop reading, stayed up until 2.30am last night to finish it, it's a lot more action packed than book one and had me gripped from page one.

I've only enjoyed one series by this author which was monster in his eyes. I have tried and tried to read sempre about three times but I just can't get into it, so I'm really glad I took a chance on this series, will be trying more of his authors books as this was just simply amazing.

Thank you so much for J M Darhower for bringing Lorenzo Gambini to life, he will stay in my head for a long time.

2020 read

Loved it yet again. Lorenzo is freaking funny. This time around the romance wasn’t lacking because I really saw how he showed his love without ever saying the words. He was protective and sweet but never tried to be anything he wasn’t and it felt real.

Totally loved Lorenzo! Like he made me laugh so hard and there is just nothing sexier. His humor and banter reminded me of another hero from a different author and I kinda loved that. Totally unique but similar. I enjoyed this story but I missed the love story aspect. There was just so much going on and I was so into the storyline but the romance for me lacked.
