Lizzy and her half-brother Thomas are thrust into an unexpected situation after their parents pass away. Their uncle comes to take over the estate and their stewardship. He is not a nice man and after threatening to send Thomas to labor on a merchant ship, Lizzy takes it upon herself to protect both of them.
During their adventures, Lizzy and Thomas meet Mr. Barton who decides to do what he can to help them. Lizzy and Mr. Barton discover that they are developing feelings for one another, but can they overcome the obstacles in their path?
This is a very cute book about a devoted sister who does everything she can to protect her brother. She convinces him that they are having adventures to keep his hopes up, and shelters him as best she can from those who wish them harm. Lizzy has to learn to allow people to take care of her and not do everything herself. Mr. Barton has to learn to be patient with Lizzy and how to open himself up again after being hurt before.
If you're looking for a cute, charming read then this is perfect.

This was such a fun, exciting book! It captured my attention from the beginning and I couldn't put it down, I read it in one day. There was so much intrigue that I had no idea who it would end, it wasn't an easy predictable read which I liked. The author mentioned that this book was slightly inspired by the Boxcar children series, and I loved those books are a kid so it was fun to see elements of that beloved story in here. I think if I were Lizzy and Thomas, I wouldn't want any more adventures! It had villains you loved to hate, and a sweet, clean romance. This is my favorite of Linton's work yet! She gets better as a storyteller with every book. I received this book in exchange for an honest review via NetGalley.

I'd say 3.5
I appreciated the originality and twists, but the self-doubting of Lizzie got very tiring, I found myself rolling my eyes at her most of the time.
Overall, I would say it is worth a read!

This book was a fun adventure! I loved the heroine and how fiercely she wanted to protect her brother and was courageous enough to tackle things she wasn't sure about. The ending of the book felt a little hard to believe in some aspects, but overall it was a great story!

Lizzy and Thomas escape their evil uncle and try to make it on their own. Luckily Mr. Barton finds them and makes it his mission to help them.

A fresh regency story-line, daring adventure, witty characters, and a sweet romance makes this a great book!

This Regency has lots of action and some twists and turns, but it felt forced. I’ve loved Linton’s other novels, but this one just didn’t work for me.
