I didn't love these storylines or these characters. The girlfriend who hides her pregnancy and child from the child's father for four years. And the geriatric love story with the judgmental mom who clearly made some poor parenting mistakes as all four of her adult sons are commitment phobes.

I enjoyed this novel but at times found that Franci and Sean's decisions were hard to take.

DNF. By book 9 or 10 or whatever number this is... I just couldn't. As much as I love Virgin River, the town, and the quirky characters, I couldn't handle all the dialogue and lack of action. Sean was irritating when he appeared prior to this novel. He didn't get better.

Jeder der mich ein bisschen kennt, weiß dass ich die Virgin River Reihe abgöttisch liebe. Wenn ich Bücher aus dieser Reihe lesen, fühle ich mich immer unglaublich wohl und kann voll und ganz darin abtauchen. Ich liebe das Kleinstadtfeeling und die wahnsinnig tollen Charaktere und das man in den Bänden immer von mehreren Paaren liest und auch die meisten anderen liebgewonnen Charaktere der Reihe immer wieder vorkommen. Es gibt keine andere Reihe, die mich an traurigen oder stressigen Tagen so warm einlullen kann wie die Virgin River Reihe.
In diesem Band hier geht es um Sean. Das ist einer von Lukes Brüdern. (Luke kennt der Leser bereits aus den anderen Bänden, aber es ist nicht zwingend notwendig diese zu lesen!) Vor einigen Jahren hat sich Sean im Streit von seine damaligen Freundin getrennt und es immer bereut. Franci dagegen hat es fast das Herz gebrochen und sie hat auch ein großes Geheimnis mit sich herumgetragen. Wie man schon in der Inhaltsbeschreibung lesen kann, geht es dabei um Rosie. Das ist nämlich die gemeinsame Tochter der beiden, nur dass Sean davon nichts weiß, da Franci noch ganz am Anfang der Schwangerschaft war, als sie sich trennten. Die Beweggründe von beiden wurden wirklich gut erläutert und auch die erneute Anziehungskraft, die sofort herrscht als beide wieder aufeinandertreffen. Franci wehrt sich anfangs sehr stark dagegen und das konnte ich gut nachvollziehen. Sean bleibt aber sehr hartnäckig, vor allem als er dann doch von Rosie erfährt. Die Szenen zwischen ihm und Rosie sind einfach hinreißend und oft auch sehr witzig. Es war toll zu lesen wie die kleine Familie nach und nach zusammenwächst. Auch die Familien von beiden spielen wieder eine große Rolle und das liebte ich.
Einziges kleines Manko war, dass sich wirklich fast nur auf dieses Paar konzentriert wurde. Man erlebt zwar einige kleine anderen Szenen mit geliebten Charakteren aber das dann eher im letzten Drittel des Buches. Aber dieser Punkt macht das Buch gerade auch zu einem Einstiegsbuch in die Serie. Man kann hier gut herausfinden, ob einem der Stil der Autorin liegt und muss dazu nicht die Bände davor lesen.

Another wonderful visit to Virgin River. I'm getting to the point in this series where I may not know or remember all the characters and their back stories which I know I've read! The town is getting bigger and the main characters from the beginning of the series are very much background characters now. But you can always dig into the main story of each book which this time, involved Sean and Franci, two past lovers who run into each other in this book. We also get a bit of the last book's couple and they were still fresh in my memory so that was also nice. I'm not a huge fan of one of the big tropes in this one but felt like it flushed out well so I was able to overlook it. I realize I do need to pace out my reading of this series because it can get a little long and I find myself a bit restless reading it. But having the same narrator makes for such a soothing and pleasing audiobook experience, which is how I read most of this series. Highly recommend on audio!
