it was a fun read! nothing amazing, but it’s still nice to see a retelling of the overused romeo and juliet story. justice for rosaline!

A quanto pare dovrei trovare questo libro orribilmente sessista e pieno di slut shaming. A leggere le recensioni, mi ero anche pentita di averlo richiesto tramite prestito interbibliotecario.

E invece no, si è rivelato carino. Credo che la traduzione abbia influito molto nell'attenuare lo slut shaming. Il famoso passaggio con "slutty" e "slut" che molte recensioni citano viene tradotto con "comportarsi in modo leggero" e "sciacquetta". Dire che una ragazza è stata leggera con un ragazzo è sì una critica, ma non certo infamante. E sciacquetta... mi sa che slut sarebbe più "tr**etta".

Resta il fatto che la rappresentazione di Juliet è alquanto problematica. Non ha spessore, è una pazza mangiauomini che soffia il ragazzo alla protagonista e fa una brutta fine. Rosalien invece è un angelo, perdona subito, prova compassione per la perfida cugina e vorrebbe consolarla.

Comunque, il personaggio migliore è Len. Io shippavo lui e Rosie fin dalle prime pagine. Altro che quel bellimbusto di Rob.

I was happy when Juliet was offed but not "Romeo" - never Romeo! Why does Romeo always have to die? Just off the cow and let Romeo live - just once! LOL =P But, seriously, I did hate Juliet and, unlike Rose, I never was convinced she truly loved him but think she just wanted to one-up Rose, even if it meant hurting everyone else in the process.
