I felt confused, scared, and trapped along with Alice. She did the beautiful thing of letting Alzheimer's soften her, and bring bits of awareness to her that she lost, or perhaps never had. She let it bring love to her. Is there anything more beautiful?
Recommend this book especially to those who have never considered Alzheimer's from the victim's point of view.

Alzheimer's disease is bad enough when you're old, but to be diagnosed with early-onset is a terrifying thought, and we follow the process through Alice's eyes. Each chapter begins with a sort of recital of core facts, and through them - and Alice herself - we see the gradual disintegration of her mind as she becomes lost, and the heartbreak it sometimes causes.

Later reread: I don't know whether it's the Kindle or the new version, but the chapter leads were not present in the 10th anniversary copy.
