At this point is anyone that surprised when a body shows up in Three Pines?  I’m not.

As usual, I flew through this book wanting to know who the murder was but  I find myself more and more drawn to the residents of Three Pines and Gamache’s team. Louise Penny does an excellent job of weaving together the main investigation storyline in each book  with her characters’ personal development across the series.

Another stellar Inspector Armand Gamache novel. I loved learning so much about the art scene in Montreal.

I think I must go back and read the first novel. I liked it but didn't fully understand what the author was trying to do. It'll be a joy to see it from my new perspective.

Only Louise Penny can explore a murder while delving into character development and reflections on forgiveness and redemption. In this seventh installment in the series, Inspector Gamache investigates a woman strangled in Clara and Peter Morrows' backyard on the night of Clara's solo art show. This is a fabulous series, but it must be read in order from the beginning since much of the character development occurs over multiple books. Read if you enjoy: cozy mysteries, small villages, Quebecois settings, strong character development
