I adore this book. I loved everything about it! The author also has a Spotify playlist for the book, so check it out if you're curious about the music.

I was so excited to get this for Christmas, and it completely lived up to my (high) expectations!

Everything was so well done, from the fantastic representation to Skye's wonderful narrative voice (and presumably her literal one, not that I could hear it, sadly) to the positive messaging and the cute romance. It took a bit for me to get into the romance, but I was captain of the ship by the end! I also really liked the way Skye's relationship with her mom was portrayed. I thought that it was very mature and acknowledged the imperfections and limitations that exist in parent-child relationships in a satisfying and healthy manner. So that was really nice. Beyond that, the actual plot of the book was really fun, and I want I'll Be the One to be a movie or TV show now, please! It was quite entertaining to follow Skye's adventures on the show. Bora sucked, by the way. Go Gary! Mixed feelings on Mr. Park.

All in all, I loved this to pieces and I'm really glad that I own a hardcover version of it, because the cover is super cute (I love how happy the cover model looks!) and I know for a fact that I'll be rereading it soon. 5 stars! Do yourself a favor and give this a read!

Definitely a 5 star read for me!

I've been a fan of K-pop for a very long time and despite how much I love the music and talent of the many groups, I can also acknowledge how toxic the industry is. There is so much pressure on keeping a perfect image, whether it is through behavior or having a certain body shape.

Skye is confident and unapologetic about her body size and I absolutely love her for that. She's a very inspiring character. I love how much the book focuses on body positivity. Although the fatphobia, body shaming and verbal abuse is a consistent theme within the book, I don't think this negatively impacted the plot at all since the whole focus of the book is on a character who faces all three on a daily basis, even from her mom, but she is able to stay strong and be an inspiration to all, even in an industry that is full of harsh criticism and a strong drive to having the "perfect" body.

The romance was a bit on the cliche side but I still found it very wholesome and genuine. Henry is an absolute gem! Additionally, even though the romance ends up being heterosexual, the book still takes time to show Skye exploring her bisexuality

This really felt like from a teenagers point of view, I loved the characters confidence and I loved how relatable it was, dealing with family challenges, despite her becoming famous! A fun light read. Love that it's about a plus size Korean girl

Sometimes you don’t really notice a lack of positive representation until you find it for the first time. While there are about a million books about white girls, it still moves me to tears every time I read about bi girls or fat girls. To have a main character who’s both in such an affirming way in such a fun book? Amazing.

Narrator was annoying to me and it didn’t really pick up steam till chapter 20. I would’ve have liked it better without the narrator
