I loved this novella. I picked it up as part of an essential to-read list, so there was an attached 'chore' value to it. I never thought I'd enjoy it as much as I did.
It's a jumping point to reflect upon familial obligations, expectations and roles even from an absurdist point of view and I was sorry to see it end.

This is my second time reading Die Verwandlung by Kafka as I was asked by my lecturer to reacquaint myself with the book for the upcoming Seminar on Kafka/Die Verwandlung. I really enjoyed it the first time when I read it back in school and even more so the second time around. I think it’s one of my favorite classics to date. I remember reading it in school and my teacher asking us if we thought it to be a comical or sad book. Even back then I thought it to be a really sad story. I felt so bad for Gregor and whilst I understood the difficulty of the situation for his family i really hate their opportunistic nature.

This is truly one of those classics where I 100% get the hype. It’s not only a classic because it’s old and was good back then. It’s one of the few classics i actually enjoyed WHILST reading!

I get the book at the same time i don't get it.
I do bave a love-hate relationship but neither is too strong to push me about it. Though, one day, I was facing some issues and it recalled me of Gregor and i desperately wanted to continue reading it.
Maybe because it grows inside you.
The later part really hit me for a moment, specially how her sister's behqvior evolved.
Perhaps would look forward to read more of Kafka. For now, The Metamorphosis was it.
