The pacing on this book is immaculate, the story and characters were engaging but it required a bit more suspension of disbelief than I am capable of. Also one of the side characters has my son's name and that was hard to forget.

Slow burn romance, dark topics. Very spicy, cute, complicated love story. Such a fun read. Will definitely continue the series!

This is unlike anything I've read before: very dark and gory, but still hilarious and a great romance. The author's content warnings are needed, though, some stuff is really disturbing here!

The audiobook experience, read as a duet, is exquisite. The narrators' performance fits the characters spot on.

Butcher & Blackbird — 3 ⭐️

𝐓𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 & 𝐑𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰: Lesson learned… I am not a dark romance girlie. I did enjoy the story aspect of the book - AKA serial un-alivers falling in love and their backgrounds. It reminded me so much of Mr. & Mrs. Smith!

Like the other dark romance books I’ve read, the gore and spice just wasn’t it for me. I’ll stick with my light-hearted romances and thrillers, thank youuu.

𝐓𝐖: omg, please please please read the insane list of trigger warnings before diving in. It’s partially hilarious but very concerning at the same time. 😅

I’m personally not a fan of detailed gore and this one had a lot.

I was surprised with how much I liked this book! This was my first dark romance and the trigger warnings scared me more than they should have because there were a lot of graphic scenes, but definitely not as bad as I thought they would be.

The banter between Rowan and Sloan was so good and I loved how it was written from both their perspectives so the build-up felt more fulfilling because you could see how both of them felt the same way but kept holding back.

Such a fun book and definitely recommend to anyone who isn't afraid of some graphic violence and sex!! I'm excited to dive into the second book soon but I need a bit of a breather after the last 100 pages of this one 😮‍💨

This book had some laugh out loud moments but definitely reads like dexter meets romcom with a LOT of spice. Much more than  I was expecting tbh lol. The story starts off strong with the Dexter vibe but kind of abandons it halfway through to show the characters as also normal people. The plot was kinda all over the place. There’s a twist at the end that’s kinda random but resolves itself. The story also mentioned some other characters I know will be getting their own books.

Now, here’s the big thing. I loved the duet POV narration style and the narrators did a great job bringing the story to life; but only after finishing did I discover the misconduct activity surrounding the male narrator and his production company. And now I realize this audiobook has been (rightfully) pulled from a lot of streaming services. If I choose to reread this, I’ll be reading the physical copy instead. And please check the content warnings! It’s not for the feint of heart.
