I devoured this book — it might be the first book I ever re-read (it was that good and there were a bunch of details I might pick up on better the second time).
I’m not usually a thriller/scary book fan and there were definitely very dark parts of the book but it wasn’t so graphic and detailed or suspenseful that it kept me up at night. I really enjoyed the tone shift away from glorifying the killer, and instead empowering the women involved. Really phenomenal, would read again (which I never say).

Ultimately, I do think this book brings up important discussions about sensationalism and violence against women. I am curious if the victims of Ted Bundy would feel about this book. It felt so strange to be reading a fictional book about the events while also diving into discussion about how the media sensationalized the real events.
I think there was weird moments that I didn't quite understand that had nothing to do about the real events that just had me asking why that was written
like Pamela being turned on by the police officer in an early chapter and Ruth going to hit her nephew in a way she described as almost erotic pleasure - like it was just so strange to write those things.

I was not ready for how much this book would put a hold on me. The descriptive writing really puts you into the narrator’s shoes. The mix of real life events fictionalization really pulls you in deep. I loved that it was focused on the victims and survivors and he is only known as the defendant on the writing to weaken his power.

wow wow wow—this book was so much more than i was expecting. it feels like being seen (as a woman) in a major way even if this isn’t explicitly something that a person has had to deal with. it’s the idea of being constantly questioned and not believed because of who you are. this book was AMAZING.

I fear this book might have ruined my reading goal for the rest of the year because nothing else will compare. Men are infuriating, the patriarchy is infuriating, true crime is normally infuriating but this approach truly turned the narrative on its head. A fictionalised feminist re-telling of the victims of the infamous “All American Sex Killer”, painting him as the pathetic incel he truly was, is something I never knew I needed to read. Until I read it. BRAVO.
