This was a decent thriller but unfortunately I couldn't connect to the characters in any way and that's really important for me to truly enjoy a book. Even if they are horrible, I still need to care what happens to them.

This is a tough read for sure. The topic is dark and complicated. While I enjoyed it, I felt it lacked that thing in a thriller that keeps me turning the pages...a twist.

This book is just sad. That's really all I can say about it. This is such a well-written story dealing with grief, friendship, neglect, motherhood, loneliness and so much more. Every time the little girl says she's hungry it literally hurts my heart. This book is really not a thriller, but really just a devastating character-driven narrative about a really unfair situation.

The audible narration was great.

Minor spoiler & random note: If you're familiar with the (true) case of perpetrators Mary Bell and Norma Bell.... Chrissie's actions remind me so much of that.

Super interesting and a bit disturbing. Not at all what I expected. Overall a good book and I was happy with how it ended.

When I read the synopsis of this book I immediately thought of the case of the child killer, Mary Bell. I love fiction books based on, or inspired by, true crime, so I decided to read it. Wow-- it was so much more than I thought it would be! I've never read a book with such an authentic child's voice, and this was no easy child to write. This could have been tripe, could have been sensational, but was not at all. Be prepared for a difficult, emotional experience. Despite the heart wrenching story, I loved it for its truth and even its hope at the end.

The book was long winded and I found the book to try and justify what the person did, I don’t wanna say anything because it would give spoilers but the book is just a dark book about past & present of the character and what they went through. The book didn’t keep me interested and I found it a chore to actually read it especially with the ending. I would reach for it again
