Audiobook: This series is very informative. The author knows what she is writing about and teaches it in her books. It's still a dry read, it feels emotionally stifled to me. I think it's the narrator or perhaps it is the writing, it's just so logical. I feel like I'm reading a "just the facts" book. This one had more internal emotional turmoil but no flares. It's all so maddening calm and reserved. The narrator is very precise and reads it like a book, she may be killing it for me. This might be a book to read only ? I'm have book 4 through my library, I'm not sure if I want to read anymore of this series or not.

I love this series

I'm so glad I found this series. I recommended it to my library system and they purchased the whole series to date. I'm working my way through and can't give enough praise. I tell everyone to give it a try!

Oh.My.Gosh! I read this book in TWO DAYS! It was so good and I only put it down when I absolutely had to (stupid sleep and work!). The whole book was an emotional ride. But SO GOOD. Margaret does a wonderful job of bringing these characters to life, to pull you into the story. This was the most tense case so far of the Timber Creek series and I felt Mattie's anguish, her desperation to find the missing girl, her struggles to keep a clear head and find any leads. It was as if I was there, searching with her and Robo.

I can't wait to read Mattie and Robo's next adventure!

Mizushima’s Timber Creek, Colorado is starting to resemble Louise Penny’s Three Pines, Quebec- both are beautiful idyllic rural places with a murder problem. In book three a young 13 yo is found dead on a hill behind school. She had an assignation with a high school boy. It appears she was promiscuous. Obvious suspects are the high school boys and the father. But then a carload of pedophiles from Denver on a camping trip present themselves. Meanwhile the local vet has a client who is acting strangely. He suspects someone is injuring his animals. Then another girl goes missing.
A fast paced story as Mattie and Robo race to find the girl and contend with her inner demons.
