I enjoy reading Sherlock Holmes but its starting to wear. No small detail every passes by Sherlock. But the stories are fun.

After several collections of short stories, Doyle goes back to a full story, bringing Holmes back to life.

I do find it interesting that Holmes is so quick to dismiss the supernatural when Doyle was a huge believer in the supernatural himself. A member of the ghost club and frequenter of clairvoyants. Doyle's belief that Houdini had magical powers contributed to the end their friendship when Houdini insisted it was all a trick.

But Holmes is, as always, practical.

Fun read. I will probably take a break from Holmes for a while though.

I enjoyed this book a lot more than I thought I would. Doyle's writing was fast-paced and easy to understand. I LOVED the mystery and it really did keep me on the edge of my seat. The only reason it is not a 5 star read is because of Mortimer's skulls (6 mentions btw) and the fate of the spaniel. I cannot wait to read more Sherlock Holmes!!!

meh. i know these books are old af but the race science always throws me off and makes me not want to carry on reading. it’s not real science!! you’re just racist!! anyway. watson is embarrassing sometimes bc some of rhese clues are not that hard to unravel. he moans that sherlock tells him nothing but if he just sat with it a while, he might figure things out. idk. half the characters are always so unlikeable too.

If English is your second language it might be a bit challenging but 100% worth it, really fun and interesting. The characters are amazing.
