Heinrichs has written an important book that should be required reading for citizens in a democracy. With the political turmoil in America today, reading this book has equipped me to sort the "wheat from the chaff" in political arguments. A key point of the book is that we have to learn how to argue without anger. The book offers the skills to that end, and the textbook style of the book makes it helpful for future referencing.

Some of the examples were actually pretty good. But this book is definitely NOT laugh-out-loud funny. It's also super long.

Funny and witty but really hard to get my head around the different techniques about rhetoric. Ms. Stubbs, if you are reading this, I love you, but this book was torturous.

I used this book as a textbook of sorts for a high school debate team I coached a few years ago. Heinrichs' instructions on how to manipulate through language are clear and hilarious. Instructional books aren't supposed to be this fun; I couldn't put it down!

While it took me a while to read this (and it's not longer than any average book), I am glad that I read it. The information I gleaned about rhetoric and argument--written in a fun, interesting manner--made it worth the time. I don't know that I would recommend this one to just anyone, though.
