This book isn’t perfect but the characters are so well executed and it’s all a very plausible life depiction of the title character and the characters around him that are his nearest and dearest. I would heartily recommend this book to anyone.

I read the majority of this book under a blanket on a rainy night with a cup of tea, and that was how the book felt. It is a light-hearted story about a gruff man's heart warming when he adopts a child and later finds love, and an ode to books and literature, with a sad but still uplifting ending
